2 January 2018

My last Tuesday show. From next week, I'm going back to Mondays because reasons. It'll still be the usual. Like this:

Rachel Mason - Time To Resign ft. Donald Trump
Also known as Future Clown, LA singer Mason does a Cassetteboy on 45 who can f--- right off in 2018 please.

Anarchistwood - Bomb In A Luggage Rack
Anarcho-dayglo-punk warriors with a single from the back end of November.

Whirling Hall Of Knives - 8ark
A freebie from the Irish instrumentalists to herald the new year.

DateMonthYear - March
Another one from November, this time from Hamilton in New Zealand. Not a band, they say, but a new way of making music.

Kudzu - No Backbone
The lead single taken from the LP Defeated which is due out early in 2018.

Peggy Sue - Slow Fade
The London-via-Brighton duo with a track from their as yet untitled fifth album, due soon.

The Creature Comfort - What We Want (Power, Corruption And Lies)
Mancunian psych-influenced rockers with a terrific new one that came out a couple of weeks ago.

John MOuse - End Of Mankind
He said he was done making music, but John 'MOuse' Davies got back in the studio with former bandmate Steven Black - Sweet Baboo to you - to make the album Replica Figures. Out in February.

The Stroppies - Gravity Is Stern
Missed this in spring, the album The Stroppies came out in May. They're from Melbourne.

Cross Country - Grass Stains
Even older, this is from September 2016. They're from Cincinnati and is off the EP Trials.

Sam Valdez - It's Alright
Blending shoegaze with Americana to create her sound.

Mythic Sunship - Cosmic Rupture
Taken from their third LP Upheaval which is out on the 12th.

Vast Asteroid - Sick
More from LA and more shoegazey stuff, taken from their self-titled LP which came out in November.

The Junta - I Second That Emoji
From Salford and another one from earlier in 2017 that we'd missed until now. This is off the EP Ergo which came out back in June.

Milkywhale - Rhubarb Girl
From Reykjavik, this is off their self-titled album from May. Another one we missed...

Tetraneutron - Strawmanistan
And now you must forgive the indulgence. One of the things I'm most proud of in 2017 is making a record - this record - with beatmaker Pete McGarry. Still very available at Broken Down Records.

30 May 2017

Quiet bank holiday? Not much happened? Ah well.

Fizzy Blood - Pawn
Noisy bunch from Leeds. This is their latest single, a discourse on predatory behaviour and using people's desperation to persuade them to do things not in their interests.

Oro Swimming Hour - Overthrown
Off Penrose Winoa, a collaboration between Bristol's Art Is Hard records and Brooklyn's Orchid Tapes.

Meatraffle - Brother
Their first single since their debut LP Hi-Fi Classics, they are avoiding difficult second album syndrome by skipping the second, so the next one will be their third.

Deer - How I Feel
Going back a couple of years for this one from Mexico.

Bearcats - The Big Surprise
This came out last autumn, off the Californian's Candy EP,

The Kimberly Steaks - Wrong Exit
Glasgow now, and one from 2014 off the LP To Live And Die In West Central Scotland.

Feature - Schedules Align
Another one from the debut and valedictory album Banishing Ritual which is dead good.

Cannibale - Rays Of Light
To Paris, and this is on No Mercy For Love.

The Foreign Resort - She Is Lost
And Copenhagen next, this is their new single with an LP to follow.

Wave - PJ
From the brilliantly named album Jurassic Parkour.

We Are Quasars - Post-Wave
These are from Carlisle and are bloody good. This is off Resistance which came out a couple of weeks back.

Five Pence Game - D Minor Disappointment ft Faithful Johannes
Five Pence Game is a collaborative project from Novocastrian Ally Morton. This features Outside Your House man Faithful Johannes and appears on the EP Oxygen.

Whirling Hall Of Knives - Selectivsnapp
Irish electronic duo with a new EP/mini-album Voix.

Brainwaltzera - Muddy Puddle Trot
Is it Richard D James, he of Aphex Twin? It seems it very well may be. This is off the EP Aescoba.

7 February 2017

Na then

Stef Chura - Slow Motion
DIY from Detroit and with more than a little of The Breeders to it. It's off the album Messes which came out at the back end of last month.

The Drain On The Balcony - Happy Thinking
Out on Bristol's Local Underground label comes this from the LP The Golden Hour Of The Drain On The Balcony, released early January.

Deadwall - Heartlands
A new one from one of our favourites, Leeds four-piece Deadwall. They are seriously good.

Featured album: Sweet Benfica - Betamax Daydream
Betamax Daydream
Heathers
More DIY for our featured LP this week, from show favourites, two brothers from Wales. The album came out early in January and follows a pattern set down with previous releases. It's really very good.

The Frightnrs - All My Tears
Proper reggae now from Queens in New York. Despite it's very old-school feel, this is off their debut LP, Nothing More To Say, which came out last autumn.

Talisman - Relijan
More reggae, this time from four-decade veterans Talisman from Bristol. The new album is Don't Play With Fyah and it's great. I'm sure there are lots more tracks we'll be playing from this in the coming weeks.

Moon Duo - Cold Fear
Portland psych-rockers return with another LP, Occult Architecture volume 1. That's out in March, very much the concept album and will be followed by a complementary piece.

Lady Wray - Do It Again
What a voice. Virginia's Nicole Wray has her first LP for some time out now, Queen Alone. Proper good soul.

Sky Between Leaves - OBE (Out Of Body Experience)
They're a London-based alt/krautrock ensemble and this is off the EP Klein Blues which came out in October.

Featured album: Sweet Benfica - Betamax Daydream
Last Night I Googled My House
And I'm a sucker for a good title. And they don't get a lot better than this. Good guys, good music. Go get it.

Dusty Mush - Faux Sabotage
Making noise in a dirty attic in Ile de France are Dusty Mush, aka producer Cédric Bottachia. This was released as a single last November.

DJ Marcelle - To The Right
Marcelle is from Amsterdam and something of a pioneer of modern electronica and trance. This is off the EP In The Wrong Direction. Terrific.

Whirling Hall Of Knives - MMXVIRIP
This is an Irish collaboration between The Last Sound and Magnetize. The track came out on New Year's Eve, and obviously the title is saying ta-ra to 2016. A suitable place to finish this edition.

And that'll do us for this week. It would transpire that I'm not in for the next two weeks, so see thee in a while.
