Another track from the Bostonians' album Blank Panthers which is damnably good. A fabulous cacophony.

Kobadelta - You Don't Need To Ask...
Newcastle now and a track that accompanied the single Bathsheba which we've played before.

Falling And Landing
With a name taken from cycling champion Pedro Delgado, the debut album from The Delgados also had a cycling theme and launched the Motherwell four-piece to indie stardom. Proper indie too, as this and most of their output went out on their own Chemikal Underground label which later featured Arab Strap and Mogwai, among others. A lot like Teenage Fanclub in their delivery and lyrics, and since when was that a bad thing?

This Becomes Us - Undervalue Love ft. Guy McKnight
Another track from the forthcoming LP from Future Of The Left bassist Julia Ruzicka and guests. Can not wait.

Sweet Benfica - Strange Veil
To the Welsh mountains now and a track which came out in May but somehow passed me by. Love these dudes.

Steve Ignorant with Paranoid Visions - Join The Dots
Something from a while back, 2013 to be precise. The Crass singer teamed up with the Dublin punk rockers on an LP called When...? which harks back to oi and all that.

Young Sierra - The Lights
A young Mancunian trio of pure pop merchants. This is the title track from an EP of the same name out in a week and a bit.

The Old Pink House - So Bad
Don't know a lot about these and googling gives you a load of restaurant reviews. Pop. Unadulterated pop.

The Landseers - Weatherman
The Sweet Benfica lads return with house favourites Nat Lyon and Ash Cooke of Pulco in their Landseers supergroup form. The single came out on October 10.

And finally, Hull producer Steve Cobby weaves his magic on a '70s soul rarity from Buffalo singer Lee Dowell and The Cannonballs for track of the year so far.

The Retro Spankees - Here We Go
Here we go indeed. Seemed a decent enough idea to kick things off with. These are from Northampton and this is off Meagre Vengeance which came out last November.

Jacco Gardner - Find Yourself
We've played this chap from Hoorn in the Netherlands before, quite a while ago. His new album is Hypnophobia which is out in May and this is the first single. Almost prog in places and a bit grandiose, but none the worse for it.

Dick Diver - Tearing The Posters Down
This took a few listens before I really got it, but it does work. Quite a simple sound, but not in a bad way. They're from Melbourne - Australia not Lincolnshire - and the album is Melbourne, Florida.

Siouxsie And The Banshees/Junks - Hong Kong Garden
I'm fairly sure there is tongue in cheek on that Junks version. I mean, the original, their debut single from 1978, carries that stereotyped leitmotif that tells you it's Oriental. Junks seem to have J-popped it up in an over-the-top fashion. Equally, I might be making this up. Anyway, Junks are from Hong Kong and that's their debut single.

Django Django - Reflections
The second track taken from their second album Born Under Saturn which is out in May. Can not wait.

Teleman - Strange Combinations
Following on from their acclaimed album Breakfast, it's a new track from these. Hopefully a foretaste of a new album.

The Lovely Eggs - Magic Onion
Husband and wife duo from Lancaster go all Jefferson Airplane on us in their new single, the first release from the new album This Is Our Nowhere which comes out in May. They're touring at the moment and are well worth checking out.

The Wave Pictures - Fire Alarm
Another track from the excellent album Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon, written and recorded in conjunction with Billy Childish. If this isn't in the top half-dozen albums of the year come December, we're in for some treats later in the year.

The Landseers - Wasted
New track from this cross-continental supergroup. Part Welsh, part whatever the collective term for people from Connecticut is. Available as a free download from their bandcamp page.

Du Dauphine - Lose My Soul
I've been after playing these a while and finally have my hands on something. Off their self-titled debut EP, these are local and have clearly spared nothing in terms of production values.

TV Smith - Immortal Rich
The Hurriers - Truth And Justice
TV Smith, still got the hump with society a long time on from The Adverts. That's off the album Immortal Rich from 1995. Then The Hurriers, from Barnsley and off an EP also called Truth And Justice. The link is that both tracks feature on the Orgreave Justice compilation available from Philosophy Football. There are some great tracks on there from an impressive array of artists - some you know, some you won't. And it's for a good cause.

Bloodflower - People/Places
I don't know anything about these other than it's off an EP called Noise and I like it. Very retro.

Outside Your House - Photos Out There
Slacker rap? Is that a term? Whatever. Laid back stuff and I like it. They're from Durham and this is off the new EP The Ones That Left Town available as a pay-what-you-like download from their bandcamp page.

Transmission 13 - Jackson Pollock
And finally... We've played these before, again a long time ago. They're from Manchester, although augmented here by Canadian producer Antonio de Braga. This is off the album Vanishing Point.

We were bumped for football again last week. Stupid midweek games... Anyway, we're back and in a first for the show, we have LIVE MUSIC in the studio.

John MOuse - I Was A Goalkeeper
From the album The Death Of John MOuse which came out in July and was criminally overlooked by myself. I'm making good on it now though. There's a quite remarkable version of the national anthem, On Ilkley Moor Baht 'At, on there as well which is worth seeking out.

Modern Faces - Lufthansa
An unsigned  band from Dunfermline, this is part of a double-A side release with Matter Of Time on the flip side to this. I travelled a lot with Lufthansa when I worked in Germany. I always wondered where they found pickles so small to fit in their teeny-tiny pastrami sandwiches. No answers to that conundrum are to be found here, but it's a bloody good tune anyway. It was released last week.

Ravioli Me Away - Cat Call
Quirky, to say the least. From the album The Inevitable Album, which is among the best titles of this and any other year, which came out two weeks ago. It really gets in your head.

Live session, part 1
Ross Taylor - Song To Woody (live)
Delighted to welcome Ross to the studio to play us a few tracks, starting with this cover of a Dylan number. We spoke about influences, other projects and the songwriting process as well. I recorded the show and will attempt to get clips of the live sections up on here at some point. Needless to say, I was hoping rather than trusting that this was all going to work, but it did so beautifully. Apologies to Ross for using him as a guinea pig, but someone had to be first. I will definitely be doing it again.

Pulled Apart By Horses - Lizard Baby
Bit of a Leeds-a-thon for the next three tracks starting with this. The new album Blood came out yesterday.

Hookworms - The Impasse
Their debut album Pearl Mystic was quite remarkable, so the expectations for their second are huge. It's coming out in November, it's called the Hum and this is the first release from that. Fantastic.

Flies On Me - Can You Smell That Burning Noise?
Self-styled musical revolutionaries, this is available as a free download from their bandcamp page. And well worth getting hold of, just as I did.

The Landseers - The Royal We
It's things like this that make Twitter work for me. Without chatting to, ostensibly, strangers about the Tour de France, I'd not have found it.

Teen Brains - Fluke
Another one from the compilation put out by Beech Coma records - volume 2, specifically.

And now for something completely different... The album release passed me by, which is odd as I've played a track from it ages ago. The whole, SDR007, is a work of twisted genius fusing manic guitar and some heavy beats. Well worth checking out.

Shift Work - Scaled To Fit
And to end, this from an EP of the same name. The best thing I've heard this year, maybe in five years, maybe even in ten. Utterly brilliant. I've basically had it on a loop for a fortnight. Absolutely love it.
